Growing your first airport without going broke in Skyport Tycoon

May 14, 2026 · Marek Dvořák

Skyport Tycoon lets you overreach fast, and I did. My first airport had three terminals and no way to pay the staff running them. The lesson: expand only when your income comfortably covers the next building.

Schedule flights you can actually service on time. Late departures tank passenger happiness, and unhappy passengers mean less money coming in. It's better to run fewer flights well than to cram the runway and disappoint everyone.

Maintenance is easy to ignore until a plane grounds itself at the worst moment. Budget for it early. A little regular spending prevents expensive breakdowns later.

Once the basics are stable, the game opens up nicely. Route planning and terminal design become genuinely satisfying puzzles when you're not constantly fighting for cash.
